Managed by a very talented and dynamic team of nepali women. Their hand-made paper business is an important vehicle for promoting income and entrepreneurial abilities among nepalese women. This artisan group maintains a strong commitment to upgrading the artisan skills of nepalese women as well as the preservation of traditional nepalese arts. Frequent trips to remote areas of nepal are consistently made by the group to manage paper making projects and encourage the development of new sources of raw materials.

The group produces elegant and exclusive hand-made paper products for Tibet Collection using the sustainably harvested bark of the Daphne Cannabina bush, locally known as "lokta." Lokta is found at altitudes above 6,500 ft. In most of the nepalese himalayan region. It has a unique characteristic of regenerating itself every 4-5 years after the bark has been peeled and cut away for making paper, thus preserving the fragile forest ecology of nepal while providing gainful employment to local mountain people. Natural and chemical dyes, as well as other organic materials, are used in assorted combinations to create a vibrant range of colors and textures.

Sunbula is an East Jerusalem-based nonprofit organization committed to supporting Palestinian women�s craft cooperatives throughout the West Bank and Gaza. Hand-embroidered by the women of the Haneen Project. The project grew from a Sunbula training program in the Balata refugee camp. Balata is the largest Palestinian refugee camp, where inhabitants suffer from overcrowding, endemic poverty and daily conflict-related violence. The women of Balata were struggling to meet the basic needs of their families and as a result started this independent income-generation project.It is not only a thoughtful gift or a bold addition to your purse, but a tangible way to supports women artisans in the West Bank.
